Doyle, vice president of student affairs. The university received a letter from the NCAA which stated that the findings of the investigation warranted no sanctions against the basketball program. The allegations, which stem from statements made by former player Innis Glover, released from the team before last season after Coach Pat Kennedy brought in atop recruiting class, ranged from purchasing a video game for then-recruit Quentin Richardson with a coach's knowledge, to the illegal assistance in purchasing automobiles for players. Doyle said the allegation pertaining to the video game was not found to be true because there was no evidence to support the claim. Another allegation that surfaced during the investigation was that players on the team received illegal assistance in purchasing automobiles. That allegation also proved false. "We have strict control over their vehicles," Doyle said. He said that players must show documentation in how they obtained the vehicle. He also said that the university keeps a close eye on all of the programs when it comes to recruiting. Doyle said that there was only one violation found during the internal investigation. That violation involved recruits who received pizza in the locker room after a game. Doyle said that both individuals who accepted the food donated the cost of it back to charity. The investigation also confirmed that a basketball player took a recruit to a strip club during a visit, but that was not in violation of NCAA policies. "That violation was selfreported," Doyle said. The NCAA did not conduct an official investigation of DePaul on any of the allegations. Former Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Vainisi, now a lawyer, conducted DePaul's internal investigation on the allegations.Vainisi submitted his findings to the NCAA last year and they then conducted a review of the report.
